ZEPHYR '5S' pattern, beautifully refurbed by Paul Cook. These examples were in excellent condition but had one or two chips to the painted tips so were refurbished by Paul Cook to better than new by repainting the tips (in colours identical to original) and revarnishing using highest grade varnish. These iconic paper floats were produced from c1919 until the early 1960's by 'Zephyr Anglers Supplies' of Lowestoft. Toward the end of the 19th century a surge in the popularity of Roach fishing gave rise to a demand for lighter, more sensitive tackle resulting in the production of these revolutionary paper floats. They were light, practical and sensitive and proved very popular which explains their longevity, however they were also somewhat delicate so not many survive. The '5' indicates the length and the 'S' represents 'slim' (or 'standard') body. Unrepeatable and collectable.
Combining top quality materials with consummate skill, technique, craftsmanship, experience and pure artistic talent, Mr. Cook produces extraordinary floats of the very highest quality which are understandably and justifiably keenly sought by users and collectors alike. They are a joy to behold and admired by all. There can be no doubt Paul Cook floats are right up with the very best ever produced anywhere.
