Allcocks BROWNIE - 3 piece 10ft 6" float rod

Not in stock

Allcocks 'THE BROWNIE' - SUPER SCARCE 3 piece lightweight float rod. Lighter weight whole cane butt and joint, split cane top. This is a seldom seen beautiful and elegant float rod, made in the 1930's and delightful to use being only 8oz. It is designed for quick biting Roach, Dace and Grayling and described (accurately) by Allcocks as 'beautifully balanced and extremely light and a genuine pleasure to use' . Good quality brass suction ferrules, sliding reel bands and butt cap, all undamaged with the original black rubber button fitted with a green baize 'washer', original agate butt and particularly elegant agate swan neck tip ring, the intermediate stand off 'high bells' rings have been renewed with identical new rings. The middle cane section features a staggered taper. This example has a lot going for it; it has been beautifully and sympathetically restored by renowned floatmaker Andy Bachelor, it has the original green oval transfer which is complete but somewhat faded (the words 'The Brownie' are age rubbed but just legible above the transfer) and comes in the original bag (some age distress) with pre-war black and gold embroidered label. A very scarce pattern, a true delight to use and rarely, if ever, seen with original fixtures in this beautiful condition.
