PLOWMAN 'ROYAL AERIAL'. Reel no.35. UNIQUE - the only reel Plowman ever made with a BRAKE. 4 ½'', narrow drum (¾'' between plates). A beautifully proportioned and designed trotting reel. 

Spool in lightweight aircraft grade aluminium with ten large perforations to front and rear flanges, black stumpy tapered handles on slim delicate brass circular seats. Backplate black anodised with brass foot with two oval ventilations and engraved 'Plowman No.35' and 'The Royal Aerial'. Fitted with rim lever-operated brake, all component parts in lightweight aluminium and inscribed inside the backplate 'MJP' for children's book illustrator Maurice Pledger, the original owner. Exceptionally free running on swiss aircraft bearings. Particularly desirable and collectable. Handmade reels of this quality are rarely offered for sale, a superbly engineered and UNIQUE centre pin reel in MINT, unused condition.
