Allcocks 'DOMINION' AERIAL, 1910/14. 4 ½'' VERY SCARCE model in tip top excellent condition.
This model was a unique design in 1910 with solid, light aluminium rear drum plates and was made especially and exclusively for retailers Albert Smith & Co. Ltd. Of Redditch who advertised it in their catalogues as the 'Dominion Aerial'. They had first sold Aerial reels through their catalogues in 1908 but this reel was designed specifically for them. When the contract with Albert Smith ceased in 1914 Allcocks advertised and sold it through their own catalogues as Models 5100 ½ (with tension regulator) & 5100 (without) all block engraved with Allcocks details on the backplate.
Light aluminium solid rear drum plate, ebonite front flange, six spokes with horseshoe quick spool release and tension regulator, aluminium backplate with gunmetal 'leaded' finish, brass check button and brass foot. Copper caliper hidden check, attractive narrow tapered horn handles on discreet circular brass plates An extremely scarce model, rarely seen in this excellent condition. Ideal for larger species. Spins beautifully without wobble and a joy to use. Very collectable.
